Lesson 3 of 9 · 2 min

Card machine payments

Put the amount through your own card machine, then tap Approved or Declined on the till.

  1. Take payment → Card machine

Pick Card machine on the payment sheet and it says what to do: Put £36.00 through the SumUp. Key the amount into your machine, and they tap or insert their card there, as always.
  2. When your machine says approved, tap Approved on the till and the sale is done. Declined? Tap Declined, then try again or take it another way: nothing's recorded until a payment's approved.
  3. On the sale

To match a payment up later, type the approval code or the card's last four digits in the box. It's optional, and it's kept on the sale, so a customer's question next week is easy to answer.
  4. At the end of the day, the card total on End of day should match your machine's own end-of-day slip. If it doesn't, one was tapped Approved that wasn't, or the other way round, and the sales list shows each one.
