Lesson 3 of 6 · 2 min

Refunds and voids

Money back with nothing coming back, and undoing a sale rung up by mistake.

  1. Two more ways money goes back. A refund is money back with nothing coming back: a price match, a goodwill gesture. A void is for a sale rung up by mistake.
  2. Give money back

Refund, on the sale: how much, how it goes back (cash, card machine or QR), and a reason for your records. It can't be more than what's left of what they paid.
  3. Void sale

Void sale, on the sale: rung up twice, the wrong thing scanned, or they changed their mind before they left. The stock goes back on the shelf, the money goes back the way it was paid, and the sale moves to Voided. It can't be undone.
  4. Voids and refunds show in End of day, with who did them. Want to hear about each one? In Settings → Policies, under Tell me by email, switch on When a sale is voided and When something comes back.
