Lesson 3 of 4 · 2 min

When the count says it's gone

The goods are on the counter but the shelf count says none: the till sells anyway and puts the count right, unless you switch that off.

  1. The count says 0, but there's a mug in your hand at the counter. Counts drift: a box not entered, a miscount. The till doesn't argue with what's in front of you.
  2. It sells it, and puts the count right first: the stock history says Counted at the till, then Sold. The ticket tells you as you go: the shelf says 1 fewer than this, and selling puts the count right.
  3. Settings → Till & payments

Rather it refused? In Settings → Till & payments, under At the till, switch off Sell what's on the counter, even when the stock says it's gone. Then the till won't sell more than the count says.
  4. Seeing Counted at the till a lot in the history? Something's not being entered. Time for a count, or Receive a delivery for the box that came in.
