Lesson 3 of 7 · 3 min

Sizes, colours and stock

Options make variants, each with its own SKU, barcode, price and stock, and the till takes the right one off the shelf.

  1. Sizes & options

Under Sizes & options, add an option and its values: Glaze, with Sage, Oat and Charcoal. The usual ones for its kind are a click away: Size and Colour for a kurta, Shade for a lipstick. Add a second and every combination becomes its own variant. Up to three options.
  2. Variants

Each variant has its own row: an SKU if you use them, the barcode on its label, a price if it costs more, and what it starts with in stock. After that its stock lives on Inventory. Switch one off and it's no longer sold, without losing its history.
  3. On the till

Tap the mug on the till and it asks which one they're having. Scan its barcode instead and the right glaze goes straight on the ticket, no question asked. Running low shows on the tile as Only 3 left.
  4. Every sale takes its stock off the moment it's done, and a void or a return put back on the shelf adds it again. Two tills can never sell the same last one twice.
  5. Something that never runs out, like a gift voucher? Switch off Count stock and the till never stops selling it. Leave it on for everything you can count.
